If We Surrendered

If we surrendered

to earth’s intelligence

we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Instead we entangle ourselves

in knots of our own making

and struggle, lonely and confused.

So like children, we begin again…

to fall, patiently to trust our heaviness.

Even a bird has to do that

before he can fly.

~Book of Hours (Rainer Maria Rilke)

This is the state of almost everyone who is going through phases of transformation. Some people find courage and trust the process called life. Existence or God helps internally, when we start to walk even a few steps. As the proverb says, God walks even a thousand steps when you first walk even two steps towards him. This is the magic of grace. Meaning of gratitude is being revealed in the heart in those moments, and here I would like to point out that we need to honour that feeling. Even though after some time, there is not the same feeling, whenever it comes we respect and care more. Such an attitude acts like a magnet and the frequency of grace entering in life increases.

Life is alive. (Or Live is life a song by Opus) We walk on this mountain of aliveness and we get adequate and appropriate responses from life on each stage of the path, even on every nook and corner of that path; only thing that is needed to recognise this is to be open in the moment and develop the attitude of being continuously open. This is what we call development of intuition and that further leads into Trust. And for each person, this path is different as life unfolds differently to everyone.

Here we leisurely go through this poem again and feel the wisdom of it in the simplicity and playfulness. As a child we have observed trees and birds,  and when we look diligently then they give secrets of life. They give a simple instruction on how life is to be lived truly.
